"Ponderings of an Average man" - Poet Graeme Hawke

My Poetry Book
This is a collection of some of my work so far in my life. I have led a full and hopefully inconclusive life so far as my poetry and writing is concerned. My poetic musings are like my children, they are full of my emotions and raw feelings mixed with the inner darkness and fun we as humans have. I ask you to look inside the mind of an Ordinary man and see the clutter I have dispelled.

"Existence" - My latest thought provoking Poem

"Existence" - My latest thought provoking Poem.
Do we really exist or are we part of something grander and on a larger scale just puppets on a screen.

EXISTENCE

Have you ever thought if we are?
Do we actually exist?
Or are we just a visage?
A movie on the screen of life.

The shadow we cast is incorporeal
Try as we might
We may never see what it sees
Or even embrace it to our soul

The invisible life-force we breathe
Visible as a chill wind
Consuming like a rolling fog across a meadow
Silently, screaming in inevitable release.

Interaction with others an algorithm
A set course
The way a child plays a computer game
Full of pixel created puppeteer Sims

The only real way to tell if we exist
Lies in the land
The depressed footsteps in wet sand
Giving away our lives as real, with depth

The intangible meaning of a simple footfall
The only reality
The fact existence is ultimately knowledge
The knowledge that with substance there’s life

The Dark Father - My latest work based on a comment from one of my Booksie.com fns who calls me this name.

This poem is based on a comment from one of my Booksie.com fans who calls me this name. Please Enjoy!

"The DARK Father"

The dark chrysalis of rebirth
Glows with decadent desire
As I look upon a parched earth
*
The silver steaks of lightening
Like brush strokes on a canvas
As I am jolted into awakening
*
Sunlight dappled as through leaves
Blowing in the mornings yawn
Offering a sacrifice as humanity grieves
*
I awaken fully to a midnight hue
That is both dark and beautiful
In the presence of my followers few
*
As I stretch the sinews, muscle and bone
They crack like a thunderous orchestra
Awaiting arrival at my conductors throne
*
The faces of many who smile at my vision
Are blinded by their stupidity and awe
As I stride outward on my war of attrition
*
A war with the keepers of unending night
For my place at the head of unearthly mire
Against The worshipers of caring angelic light
*
I am the symphonic reason for silence
I am the harbinger of disease and blight
I am the smell of death and pestilence
*
I am "The Dark Father"

Hey Fatso! - New Poem of a personal nature for you to read.

This is about me as I was growing up and the fears that we harbour and that make us who we are as we age. kids can be crule and my life growing up was nop exception.

Hey Fatso!
Is what I hear in my dreams
My twilight nightmares
When I awaken with screams

Hey Fatso!
You can’t be part of our team
Coz you’re too disgusting
And your pants bulge at the seam

Hey Fatso!
Why don’t you just go and die!
My tormentors did say
As I tried to smile and live a lie

Hey Fatso!
You’re never ever going to get laid
They screamed at me from afar
So home I went and my room I stayed

Hey Fatso!
Are you looking at me!
I am far too pretty.
For your eyes to see!

Hey Fatso!
Is that you hanging from a tree?
So you found a rope
To hold your weight I see.

Hey where is Fatso?
Who? Oh you mean what’s his name
He hung himself yesterday
Took himself out of the game.

Hey where is Graeme?
He passed the other day
Sick of the taunts and jibes
He could no longer stay

Hey!
That’s so sad I will shed a tear
He had so much to say
But now no-one will ever hear

Battles Past - New Poem for today I love an epic battle

This is my latest poem and it literally jumped out of me and on teh page within minutes. it was like I had to write this and I think I love it, tell me what you think.

Battles Past

The ground I see as I peer over the craggy cliff
Is covered with blood and viscera of war
With no clear winner except the blacksmith

They came in suits of mail and reflective sun
With plumes like the phoenix upon their helm
The metallic beasts slaughtered and blood run.

Giant steeds snorting fire from nostrils flared
Caused ground to quake and shudder as thunder
With dark dead eyes that their masters shared

Limbs hacked and sliced from torsos unbound
Men like rag dolls thrown and diced in the air
Body parts met each other again upon the ground

The fetid breath of the reaper as he arrived to reap
Was to overpowering to some as they fled
But only into the wrath of a waiting traitors heap

Heads like overripe melons discarded by a grocer
As he inspects the contents within to ensure ripeness
Only to find the insides rotten as he looks closer

The stench of death and blood spilled copper
Is fast on the wind as it dances around the living
Giving the air thickness and oppression improper

Then as if by gods own will the noise of battle stops
The blanket of dead an eerie non living reminder
Bellow was a field of flowers with bright yellow tops

A silence descends and the wounded put to rest
The moans of men replaced by returning birds
Their whistles from on high as they return to the nest

To the victor, another day to die is granted to thee
To regroup, love and feed before the next push
They pray to a God for the ability of his wisdom to see

But what they hear a litany of verse and begotten lies
A story told to keep them on the front lines
As a little bit of their humanity each time dies

The metal warrior cleans and is tended to by serf
Knowing one day his time will be up at last
And he can finally with honour lie upon the earth

'Understanding" - A new Poem today

This is a new poem of mine that I wrote yesterday and with a little inspiration from Marilyn mansons "Get your Gun" playing in the background I came up with this. It is better if read with a beat (da da dadadada). give it a try if not please enjoy my latest piece.

Understanding

I know you look at me
With eyes that cannot see
*
I hear the riotous song
And know it won’t be long
*
I choke myself to sleep
You soul I will not reap
*
I am the one you fear
But please don’t shed a tear
*
I will not end youfast
Your suffering it will last
*
I kill therefore I am
A wolf, not a Lamb!
*
I am the sword you wield
As you cower behind your shield
*
I helped you tame this world
So you may walk unfurled
*
I now have a purpose you see
Because you are really me!

REMEMBER THEM! - A Poem for all our Fallen soldiers

This is a poem for all soldiers but written for the Aussie diggers that have fought for my freedom for over 200 years and australia day is coming up so please if you are an aussie anywhere in teh world spare these men amd women a minute of you day to remember them!

Remember Them
The road to get here was long and full of danger
With every step I was in the land of the stranger

Never did I shirk my duty or go along for the ride
I wore my uniform with purpose, love and pride

It was during this service soldiers died by my hand
An enemy who would seek, to usurp my homeland.

I travelled far for my country my people my flag
And not once have I ever thought reason to brag

To see what my forefathers achieved for my life
Was reason enough to train toil and ease strife

In countries which the language I do not know
I fight an often unseen and unyielding foe

It is with pride I travelled so far and wide
To ensure the flag would fly by my side

In many theatres of war I have discharged my gun
And the comrades I have made are my only fun

I travel now on two wheels of spokes and steel
But nothing will ever destroy the pride I feel

So on this most special of days don’t fret for me
Think of the soldiers that died to ensure you stay free!

"Beware the Smile" - New poem

"Beware the Smile!"
As you go about your daily routine
And make your way through life,
Do you feel as if you have been seen?
Or are you just a shadow of dark strife

Do they see you for who you really are?
Or do you hide the facts from all who pass
So they can only see your features from afar
Because you believe yourself below their class

I hold my head up high and walk with stride
No-one knows the true me as I walk past
The persona I try so very hard to hide
The one that would make them run so fast

The smile I flash is my weapon of choice
The only thing that gets the guard down
And I slit their throats before they can voice
Shhh it’s all better now, no need at all to frown

You see it’s not what you see that causes the pain
It’s the unguided thought that I am someone of trust
Your first impressions were of fear and were right again
Be guided by your instincts and not, attraction or lust

You now lay in the arms of the personification of fear
And there was hope for you if only for the smallest while
But you made eye contact and let me get near
Because the darkness lives behind the cover of a smile
